Volvo Cars to Introduce Prime Video and YouTube Streaming Services

Starting September 18th, Volvo Cars is set to add another layer of in-car entertainment by incorporating Amazon's Prime Video and YouTube into its software ecosystem. The new feature will be initially available via an over-the-air update, and it will be rolled out progressively, market by market, where Google services are accessible.

This move positions Volvo among the industry leaders, being one of the first automakers to offer Prime Video in its vehicles. The introduction of these streaming services adds to Volvo's existing array of software and applications, designed to enhance the user experience. Erik Severinson, Global Head of New Car Programmes at Volvo, stated, "We are delivering on our promise of building cars that grow with our customers over time."

Notably, the safety of the driver and passengers is a top priority for the automaker. As such, the video streaming function will be restricted to operate only when the vehicle is fully stationary.

For those interested in accessing these new features, Prime Video can be downloaded from Google Play. On the other hand, YouTube will come as a pre-installed app following the over-the-air update. Both services will be available in markets where Google apps and services are supported, adding more value to Volvo's in-car experience.

With this development, Volvo not only aims to enrich the driving experience but also to keep pace with the evolving digital landscape. It certainly marks a significant milestone in in-car entertainment and driver convenience.
