The Volvo S60 Recharge returns for 2023, and with it comes the return of Volvo’s fantastic Recharge plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system that now provides almost 95 km of all-EV driving. Of course, if a fun drive is more your thing and leave the hypermiling to the rest of us, then the S60 Recharge also has you covered as its combined EV/gas powertrain provides 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque sent to all four wheels through standard AWD on Recharge models.
New Styling
For 2023, Volvo has added new exterior colours and wheels to the S60 Recharge, meaning buyers can now add even more uniqueness to their S60. The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned, with the rear bumper now better concealing the exhaust outlets. To top it all off, they’ve streamlined the front fascia by adding a darker grille design and integrating the forward-facing radar sensor into the Volvo emblem for a cleaner overall look.
Infotainment update
That should perhaps say “infotainment updates” as the S60 Recharge’s system now gets over-the-air updates, which means the latest and greatest tech automatically gets downloaded to the vehicle.
The bigger news, however, is the addition of Google Built-in services for the first time in the S60.
What Google Built-in does is allow you to access many of your favourite Google apps just buy logging in to your Google account from inside the car. Keep your phone in your pocket as you can now access it via voice activation and Google assistant. Your assistant can send directions to Google Maps, remind you about daily appointments and even lower your ambient temperature.
Interior sustainability
The S60 Recharge is the only S60 model that gets Volvo’s new Tailored Wool Blend Upholstery which is made up of 30 per cent responsibly produced wool and 70 per cent polyester. It looks the part, too, with contrasting white piping to maintain an image of contemporary luxury.
