The Volvo C40 Recharge Charges Ahead

So, you’re considering a move into the world of full EV motoring with the Volvo C40 Recharge, one of the best-looking, newest and most advanced EVs available on the market today. It’s got all the right pieces, but what will it take to keep it on the road? Refueling in the EV world is a little different – well, quite different – than the traditional gas-powered world, and it can be a little overwhelming.

Which it needn’t be.

For staters, with its 364 km on range, you may not have to, well, “recharge” as much as you think.

Especially if you make use of the C40’s one-pedal drive feature. By activating this mode via a button press, the C40 will run its EV motor backwards as soon as you release the throttle, slowing you down (saving your brake pads) and charging the battery at the same time. You can not only save, but regain a lot of rang with this feature when in the city. Of course, even when not in one-pedal mode, power will regen from coasting and braking as well.

Pas that, you can charge your C40 from a 110V outlet at home, but we recommend installing a 240V level II charger at home, which we can help you arrange right at the point of sale. This will reduce your charge time by about three-quarters over a standard 110V outlet, meaning you can regain much of the power spent during the day over night.

The quickest way to charge, of course, is via a level III DC fast charger, which will get you from 10 per cent to 80 per cent battery power in about 40 minutes. Many of the charge networks found in Canada today – from the likes of Electrify Canada, Petro-Canada, Chargepoint, Flo and so on – have installed their chargers in retail areas, so you can grab lunch while you charge, or even get to work in the car while you wait.

So there you have it; that’s the charge problem solved, so come pay us a visit for an in-person look at what the new Volvo C40 Recharge is all about!
