The advanced forward collision alert

The new Volvo XC90 benefits from one of the most complete and most advanced forward collision warning systems on the market as standard in every trim level. This system constantly monitors the area in front of the vehicle with the help of radars and a camera in order to warn the driver well before a collision could occur. If despite the loud alert and the visual signal, the driver doesn’t take evasive maneuvers, the system will apply the brakes on its own in order to prevent the collision altogether or at least reduce the force of the impact. By combining specially designed fixed headrests that are at the correct height for every driver and a collapsible hinge in the backrest, this system ensures that the driver and the front passenger are protected from neck injuries by providing a controlled absorption of the force of a rear impact.
