Key Differences Between the New Volvo V60 Recharge and the Previous Model

The Volvo V60 is simply the perfect luxury vehicle. It drives like a sporty sedan thanks to a performance-calibrated chassis and perfectly tuned suspension in a compact package. But it also has plenty of cargo volume thanks to its unique wagon configuration. While every manufacturer is turning towards SUVs that all look the same, Volvo’s lineup is diversified and caters to every need.

The V60’s Recharge powertrain is all about offering the best balance between power and efficiency. It provides never-before-seen levels of performance, while enabling drivers to use electric power on long distances to reduce fuel consumption.

Volvo has a new and improved Recharge plug-in hybrid powertrain this year for the V60 Recharge wagon. It gets more power, increased efficiency and improved driveability.

Here’s an overview of the differences between the new Volvo V60 Recharge and the previous model.

The 2022 Volvo V60 Recharge is more powerful than ever

The T8 powertrain remains under the hood of the 2022 Volvo V60 Recharge. However, it is now paired with a more powerful rear electric motor that delivers 143 hp compared to the old unit which was rated at 87 hp. This is a 65% increase in power for this specific component. This new motor makes the V60 Recharge more agile on all types of roads and increasing all-wheel drive capability at low speeds, when towing, or when driving on slippery roads.

The V60 Recharge also gets a new long-range battery, which bumps up the energy from 11.6 kWh to 18.8 kWh.

Thanks to these improvements, the 2022 Volvo V60 Recharge now boasts a combined output rating of 455 horsepower.

The 2022 Volvo V60 gives you more electric range and more tech

Thanks to its new long-range 18.8 kWh battery, the 2022 Volvo V60 Recharge can now drive for 64 kilometres without using a single drop of fuel. This is a great improvement from the outgoing model, which was rated at 35 kilometres (83% increase).

The new V60 Recharge also provides drivers with the possibility to pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin remotely via the Volvo Cars app, even when the car is not plugged in.

Later this year, the 2022 Volvo V60 Recharge will also be available with the one-pedal drive feature to control acceleration and deceleration using only the accelerator pedal.
