A New Benchmark in Sustainable Luxury is Achieved with the All-New Volvo EX90

The Volvo EX90 SUV's interior is a unique testament to the power of touch, a marriage of sustainable luxury and tactile memory. The designers at Volvo drew inspiration from everyday tactile encounters, selecting materials that leave lasting impressions while showcasing the Scandinavian roots and values of the company.

The head of interior design at Volvo Cars, Lisa Reeves, describes this commitment as an effort to redefine luxury. Working with a team driven by brand values and meaningful design, they have selected lightweight materials from natural, recycled, and renewable sources that are both tactile and of excellent quality.

A key feature of this interior design revolution is the Nordico upholstery. Derived from recycled materials such as PET bottles and bio-attributed polymer from Swedish and Finnish forests, Nordico is setting a new standard for premium interiors. Reeves emphasizes the meticulous efforts put into designing the surface grain of this material, which features a detailed texture of ridges and valleys.

Nativa-certified wool blend is another upholstery option for the EX90. This fabric, certified for stringent sustainability standards on animal welfare, environmental, and social issues, also holds a Performance Certification from the Woolmark Company.

The use of such sustainable materials extends beyond upholstery. The Volvo EX90 boasts FSC-certified wood panels and carpets partially made from regenerated polyamide. Altogether, the vehicle contains almost 50 kilograms of recycled plastics and bio-based materials, the highest amount in Volvo's lineup.

Customers have the option to personalize their EX90's interior by selecting from seven different "rooms". Inspired by the close relationship between the Scandinavian lifestyle and nature, these options provide distinct moods through careful selection of colour, upholstery, and material finish. Enhanced by SunLike LEDs, which produce near-sunlight and enable more natural colour expression, the unique material choices of the Volvo EX90 are beautifully highlighted.

As part of this commitment, the company aims to be a fully electric car maker by 2030 and aims to become a climate-neutral company by 2040, further establishing the Volvo EX90 SUV as an exemplary representation of this ambitious vision.
